    I don’t know if it’s the same for you, but the weeks before holidays are always quite chaotic for me ! Emergencies at work to be handled in the absence of colleagues already on vacation, travel planning, preparing suitcases… and I have very little time left to sew ! but since I can’t do without it, I rather look for super fast patterns to make like Rosalie from Fibremood !

    .: The pattern

    Rosalie is a wide, unlined pattern with a V-neck and ruffled sleeves. The skirt attachment, below the bust, is slightly gathered. 

    .: The fabric

    For the body I used a medium thickness cotton (200g/m2), cream color decorated with thin and elegant lurex stripes. It has good hold and opacity. This fabric was included in Joli Lab’s June kit but it can be purchased separately. For the sleeves I used a one-meter remnant of Japanese cotton that had been offered to me at the Paris Creation Salon held in October 2021. 

    .: The size

    The available sizes range from XS to XXXL. I opted for size S but if you don’t like the cut too loose opt for a size smaller than your usual!

    .: The modifications

    Absolutely none !

    .: The difficulties

    Super simple, in a couple of hours the dress is ready! The fabric is super easy to sew, and you can wear it from the head without the need for either zippers or buttons. It is an ideal pattern for beginners.

    .: The cost

    As I said, the fabric was included in a monthly kit that I buy from time to time, but you can also find it by meters at a metre price of €9.95 EUR. I would say I needed less than two meters. For the sleeves, the fabric was free :-). I purchased the paper pattern at Veritas.

    Let’s say that with less than 20 EUR I made myself a nice little dress !

    .: Would I make it again?

    Yes yes I would remake it in black sangallo lace !

    I was looking for a blouse with a straight cut and adjusted to the body, which I could wear comfortably under a pullover. And long enough to fit into the pants.

    Passion by Atelier Scammit responds well to these requirements. Made with French seams, I find this model very elegant and refined, with its Victorian collar and froufrou sleeves.

    Johanna proposes alternatively the smocks for the finishing of the collar and of the sleeves , which can be short or long.

    In terms of modifications, I did not sew the pockets on the front to avoid the thickness under the pullover and, for the sleeves, instead of making the flounces I used an embroidered border that I had available.

    On the back, the blouse closes with a teardrop cut and a button.

    If you follow the tutorial, the designer explains how to make the buttonhole with an embroidery thread. It’s the first time I’ve tried it and I find the result quite nice.

    For the fabric, unfortunately, I don’t remember where I bought it, but it is absolutely soft! With its golden details, I love it!

    I recommend this model. I think I would gladly do it again. Besides, I find that it goes very well with my Betty slipover, which I will tell you about shortly.

    I discovered this free pattern of dress Dolce from Maunamé by chance while surfing the internet. I was looking for a romantic model, with an elastic waistband to use a pink and black dot viscose that I had in stock. I don’t know about you, but I generally start from a model and then look for the right fabric, and not vice versa, except if I am falling in love at first sight for a particular fabric, which oh my! It happens quite frequently in reality! But I promised myself to be less impulsive now, to buy more carefully. Before starting sewing, I didn’t buy a dress every month! Other than slow fashion! Sometimes I have the impression of consuming more! Do you have ever had this feeling?

    But now, returning to the pattern, the substantial change I made was the lining which was not originally included, but the fabric seemed a little transparent to me.

    The sleeves seemed a bit too long but I just made a double hem of 2 cm instead of 1 cm + 2 cm and the length was perfect to create the balloon effect.

    My, how time flies! I realized that I hadn’t written anything for a few months… it will be summer, you will say, the desire to enjoy the good weather and go out as much as possible… but this year, Luxembourg has been living up to its reputation… bad weather is quite natural ⛈️!       

    But let’s be positive! The cold allowed me to discover a new passion! Do you guess? 🙂

    Don’t worry, I’ll tell you about it shortly!

    First I want to tell you about a couple of models that I sewed recently and that I LOVE! The first is the Mindy dress by Fibremood in a super burgundy flowery poplin, by Charlie Coud.  

    The model features a gorgeous square neckline. The realization of the straight cut gave me a little trouble.

    You have to raise the presser foot and snip into to the seam allowance of the sleeve + neck trim until just before the needle.

    Turn the garment, lower the presser foot down again and now stitch the slanted edge together, with the notches matching.

    The cut is essential to ensure a good square and I am always afraid to cut too much!!!!!

    At the level of sleeves I opted for the balloon version with elastic.

    In case the puffy sleeves were not of your taste, you can opt for a butterfly sleeve.

    The dress closes with an invisible side zipper of 20 cm. I chose a zipper that I had bought from Atelier Brunette that I had available 60 cm long and that I cut to adapt the length. As for the size I cut everything to my usual size but if I had to do it again I would add a couple of centimeters in length to be able to wear it at the office.

    Finally last week I managed to go home! I really needed few days of sun and sea.

    What a satisfaction to be able to almost fill the suitcase with clothes sewn by me!

    Today I want to show you the photos of a summer dress that I sewed some time ago. This is model n ° 113 Burda Style 02/21.

    To the original model I only added the frills to the sleeves. For the rest I have not made any changes.

    For the fabric I chose a satin cotton purchased on the Nerida Hansen website. I’m super crazy about the colors and softness of this cotton!

    It might be the situation of almost constant confinement at home, but lately I’ve been looking for super comfy fabrics and models to wear. I recently bought a blue and gray double-face jersey fabric from my little coupon, 95% cotton and 5% elastane, with a nice weight (500 / ml) but I was hesitating about what to do with it. After surfing the internet, I finally opted for the Sophie trousers by Cha’Coud (the alternative was the plateau joggers by Closet Core patterns). In fact, I was looking for something sporty but also quite classic.

    Honestly, I’m super happy with the result, the trousers are super comfortable. I opted for my classic size 36F and I removed 5 cm from the sides to make them more adjusted to the body.

    On a technical level, I had to be a little more careful in sewing the back elastic waistband of the trousers to ensure that the extra of the fabric was distributed well (for my size I cut a 30.5 cm elastic).

    The zipper cuff is fake so the model is quite quick to sew.

    For the knotted belt, instead of using the same fabric, I used a 4 cm wide blue satin ribbon and did not sew the loops.

    Now I am thinking about what to sew with the rest of the fabric. What do you recommend?

    And also the March box of Joli lab has reserved a wonderful surprise for me. The colors of this viscose cady are magnificent.

    Lison trousers (in 7/8 version or shorts) have a super comfortable fit!

    On a technical level, nothing to complain about, the tutorial is always very clear and easy to follow. Be careful to the fabric, not to the washing (at low temperatures eh !!) but to the use of pins (fine-tipped and new ones would be better) and of the needle. Personally, I used a Schmetz 60/8 mychrotex.

    What do you think of the result?

    The name of this pattern gives me a great desire to travel, I would love to be able to leave freely like a year ago! For the moment I imagine being in Andalusia with this wrap skirt, although perhaps for the temperature of the south of Spain I should already opt for a lighter fabric instead of this superb Gucci wool that I have bought on the SuperCut site!

    I must say that this model from Bélène Paris is fantastic, the cut well structured.

    The skirt is fully lined.

    For the lining to use, the explanatory booklet gives different suggestions depending on the chosen fabric. For my skirt, the wool is not very stiff, so I opted for a cotton poplin.

    I found the two 4cm D-rings for closing the belt on the Atelier de la Création website, but if you have trouble finding them you can reduce the height of the belt accordingly (everything is well explained in the booklet!).

    Technically, you should pay a little attention to the seam of the belt due to the thickness.

    I also lengthened the length of the skirt by 5 cm like this:

    Agate, the pattern from Joli Lab‘s February box, is a beautiful blouse full of details.

    I opted for the smaller version of the shirred collar and the wider version of the cuffs. For the fabric I chose not to use the one included in the box (which I reserved for another project 😊) but a plain cotton poplin because in my opinion the details of this model stand out more.

    I particularly like the straight cut of this blouse because I can wear it under a sweater without having that puffiness effect on the hips, which I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand it!

    On a technical level, I did not find any particular difficulties.

    In my wardrobe I really lacked a nice straight skirt with a classic cut (at least sewn by me 😉), not too mini to be easily worn at the office😊. Sandrine skirt by c’est moi le patron is mainly available in three versions, mini, with or without ruffles, or 47 cm long with a back slit. It also features side pockets and pentagonal-shaped rear patch pockets.

    I opted for the 47cm length as I wanted to experiment with sewing a back slit for the first time. I didn’t find it particularly complicated to make, just be careful in the pattern not to cut the lower part diagonally as indicated but in a rectangle (pink lines below).

    It will be easier to assemble the skirt later. Also, in the instructions I have not found the indication to finish all the edges of the back of the skirt, before sewing the invisible zipper, which I recommend.

    Personally, I didn’t sew the back pockets because I wanted a really classic model.

    For the fabric I opted for a beautiful blue Flannel Blue Rivière from Stragier that I love! For the bottoms of the side pockets, I used a 3-thread cotton poplin of the same color, also by Stragier.

    The skirt does not have a lining but for the next time I think I will add it to have a more refined work.

    Do you ever had a garment in your closet that you never wear but you didn’t want giving away? Here, I had a pair of wool pants that I didn’t wear because they itched too much. Every year at the change of season, the usual dilemma. What do I do? The wool is of beautiful quality. The other day I finally decided, I cut them and sew a pair of pants for polpetta .. obviously lined!! With a nice poplin cotton veeeery soft! 😊.

    For the pattern I used the Sacha pajama pants as a base, but I opted for the belt of the Jim model, wider, both by Ikatee, which I had on hand having sewn these two models recently and which you can find described here and here (ok, I am addicted to Ikatee 😊)

    It is the third Ikatee model I have sewn in a month (see here and here… will I have become addicted? 🙂

    Actually polpetta grows fast and needed new pajamas. The Sacha model is a mixed model.

    Available from 3 to 12 years. Very simple to sew.

    I purchased a white jersey fabric with little gray stars, very soft, on the Atelier de la Création website.

    I assembled the pajamas with the sewing machine, straight stitches and stretch needle and then I finished it with the serger.

    I am very happy with the result.

    A few days ago, I wrote you about another Ikatee model: the sweat Charlie. Today, I’ll tell you about Grand’Ourse. A very pretty cardigan / jacket, which can be declined in several versions, with or without bear or rabbit ears. Ikatee offered a ready-to-sew kit with a suede fabric lined with fur. It’s super quick to make because this fabric doesn’t need any hems or serger!

    Personally, I only bought the pdf pattern because I had already found the fabric on the Atelier de la Création website (France Duval Stalla brand).

    I just wait for the temperatures to warm up a bit and stop snowing before I’ll let my polpetta wearing it!

    For the first project of the year I thought about my polpetta. I was looking for a comfortable outfit for kindergarten. By subscribing to the Ikatee newsletter I received the Jim jogpants pattern as a gift, which I then combined with their sweat Charlie. A rather large model with a lined hood and raglan sleeves. I opted for the 4 year size for both the trousers and the sweatshirt (polpetta is 3 years old and measures 1 meter) but it is still a little big. I just finished sewing another Ikatee model (the Grand’Ourse cardigan – I will talk about shortly) and in retrospect I tell myself that I should have sewn the exact size since their models are quite large.

    For the fabric I chose a jeans-colored sweater (Maille Sweatshirt – extra quality – Uni – Jeans) that I had bought on Stragier and a patterned cotton that I had in stock for the hood lining and pockets.

    I am quite happy with the result.

    Lucie or Livy? What a difficult choice! Unfortunately, in the box there wasn’t enough fabric to sew both models! In addition, the fabric is really beautiful as Joli Lab had anticipated! Finally, for this December box I opted for the top Lucie. Easy to make, in a couple of hours the game is done! I cut the pattern in my usual size but I should have added a couple of centimeters in length as I made a double hem slightly wider than the 1cm expected.

    Now I want to look for a black jacquard for the Livy skirt ….

    My polpetta loves tractors and when I found this Christmas fabric with Santa Claus on the tractor on Supercut site I didn’t hesitate to buy it to sew him a pajama.

    For the pattern, I found it on Petit Citron website the Pyter pajamas, size 3 – 14 years at 2 EUR.

    The tutorial is available on the site. Unfortunately, it is not possible to print the complete document but only image by image, which is not ideal. I personally looked directly on the website in case of need. Furthermore, the explanations are rather concise and almost nonexistent for the finishes. Depending on the fabric chosen, in my case it is a rather thick cotton, I recommend finishing the edges with the sew and iron the seams as in the two photos below.

    But for the price of the pattern, I think you can’t ask for more. 😊

    Alice by Clematisse Patterns, is a refined and very feminine model, like all of her patterns 😉. I love it!

    The dress can be declined in different ways. V-neck front or back; short or long sleeves.

    I opted for short sleeves and a V-neck on the back.

    I really like the effect of the puffed sleeves, which is actually very simple to make. In addition, if you want to accentuate it, you can add an elastic to the sleeve.

    In a few hours the dress is ready! And 1m50 of fabric is enough to make it in size 36F (38IT). For long sleeves you have to add 20 cm more.

    For the fabric I chose a cream and black spotted cotton jacquard purchased on Supercut website. I find it formidable and of excellent quality. The fabric is double face as you can see from the sleeves.

    It may be Christmas, but I really wanted to sew something red.

    In addition, I was looking for something soft and comfortable and fun to carry on my teleworking days. Pollux by Delphine & Morissette is pleasant to wear. The red dot gray cotton jersey is very soft. For the collar I used a red poplin fabric and a white cotton lace. The jersey and lace were purchased directly on Delphine & Morissette website.

    And with the leftover fabric I was able to make a nice Lino sweatshirt by Cactofil for my polpetta. This pattern offers a multitude of variations and is very quick to sew, especially if you have a serger.

    Joli Lab’s November box offers a simple and fun model to sew over a weekend.

    Meadow is a dress (or blouse) with a wrap neckline, delicately structured by a clever set of pleats on the shoulders and sleeves. I like the color of the fabric, a green viscose with black and white little flowers

     The step by step tutorial on YouTube will let to create the dress with ease.

    Attending impatiently at December box … who knows, maybe something sparkling for Christmas holidays!

    I was looking for an elegant but practical trousers model for my little polpetta. After various researches I found that Fanny from La Maison Victor matches perfectly what I wanted. Unfortunately, it is necessary to register on the site to be able to access the patterns in PDF format. Otherwise this model was presented in the 02/2020 edition of the magazine. It is not well indicated whether it is a unisex model or just for girls. I therefore opted to use for some details (pockets and belt) a purely masculine fabric, blue and gray, with little robots. The main fabric is a velvet that I bought on Antonietta Tessuti website and that I had already used to sew a dress for myself. The elastic is only in the back of the trousers. The belt is sewn on the sides, but if desired, it could also be omitted. Also this pattern comes to size 176 (17-18 years).

    So I really think that soon I’ll sew one for myself too 😉

    I was so fascinated by the smocking technique that I have already made two versions of the Manon dress, by Ma Petite Fabrique.

    A nice teardrop closure in the back, a collar worked with smocks, puff sleeves and smocks, this dress is really very romantic. Lined except in the sleeves, it’s ideal for light weight fabrics.

    For the first version, in black and white wool blend, I cut the top to the length indicated for the blouse and shortened the length of the skirt accordingly. The second version, in blue wool blend, is the original one, not modified. I’ll tell you, I prefer the first one. Perhaps also because for the blue dress I used a 32-thread Stragier poplin as lining but it is too thick for this model (alas I had run out of cotton voile).

    Looking for a quick but snappy project? I recommend the Chagall dress by Les Patronnes. I was mainly attracted by the large trapezoidal-cut belt that emphasizes the hips and brought a touch of femininity to the dress. It can be worn with both heels or sneakers.

    The model does not include any type of closure, neither zipper, nor buttons, and is therefore very simple to make.

    I chose a grey flannel fabric with little blue flowers from Atelier 27, and I modified the sleeves by adding an embroidered border bought at Stecker, Belgium. For this hacking, I recommend a very well done tutorial from les.ateliers.de.rachel.lajoie. It is in French, but with the images is very easy to understand!

    I must say that the new collection I AM MAGIC is truly magical! I was fascinated by the pattern of the trousers I AM PANORAMIX and by its detail: the large pleat on the front which makes it really very original. These trousers have a classic, fitted cut, with a high waist and ankle length.

    It is simple to sew, with an invisible side zipper. On the back you can sew patch or welt pockets pockets.

    I chose the option with the welt pockets.

    For the fabric, I opted for a stretch twill cotton, bought on the Atelier de la Création website.

    I made no changes to the pattern, cutting my usual size (36F).

    The pattern is available in paper or PDF format, accompanied by an instruction booklet that will accompany you throughout all phases of the project, in English or in French.

    I am very satisfied with the result and I will soon try another model from this new collection: I AM IRMA or I AM CLOCHETTE, which one do you recommend? 🙂
